Biorefinery
Sustainable energy
that powers the future
Modernness for the production of renewable fuels
The biorefinery
With state-of-the-art technology, Acelen Renewables’ biorefinery will be built to contribute to global decarbonization. The plant was designed to produce both renewable diesel (HVO) and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) with the highest standards of excellence, safety, and environmental care.

Located in Bahia, the biorefinery will have a total production capacity of 1 billion liters of renewable fuel per year, which will place Brazil and Bahia on the path to global energy transition.
Tecnologia
Technology
HEFA (Hydroprocessed Esters and Fatty Acids)
Acelen Renewables’ biorefinery will use the HEFA process for biofuel production, which involves hydroprocessing materials to remove oxygen and add hydrogen, resulting in hydrocarbons with properties similar to those of fossil fuels, but with 80% less emissions.

With 4.0 technology, the biorefinery will be supplied by different feedstocks and will have full traceability, safety in pollutant reductions, compliance throughout the chain, and lower water and energy consumption.

Pipelines
Cleaner
and safer transportation
Acelen Renewables’ biorefinery will be installed near the Madre de Deus Terminal, facilitating the distribution of biofuels to both the domestic and international markets.

The biofuels produced at the biorefinery will be transported to the Madre de Deus Terminal through pipelines, utilizing a pipeline network that is already in the region. This system ensures safer, more continuous, and more efficient transport.
Capacity to transport up to 1,000 cubic meters per hour quickly and safely.
Reduced truck transportation between the biorefinery and the Madre de Deus Terminal, which will generate less pollution and fewer risks.
Communities
At Acelen Renewables we believe that we can evolve together with the communities where we operate.
Positive impact
on communities
In the construction of the biorefinery
There will be around 3,000 workers during the peak period of construction and assembly, and the priority will be to hire local labor whenever possible.
Operation and maintenance
There will be 220 direct employees and about 80 indirect employees in administrative, maintenance, and operational areas.
Partner companies
Whenever possible, preference will be given to hiring companies, service providers, and businesses from the region.
Transparência e segurança
Transparency and safety
Acelen Renewables acts with social and environmental responsibility from the planning to the operation of its projects.

We conducted detailed Social and Environmental Impact Assessment studies and adopted tangible measures to minimize and control the effects on the regions surrounding on the regions near the biorefinery and pipelines.

Everything is designed to protect the community, the environment, and the workers.

Check below the main points observed for the implementation phase and what we are doing in each case.
