that powers the future
Located in Bahia, the biorefinery will have a total production capacity of 1 billion liters of renewable fuel per year, which will place Brazil and Bahia on the path to global energy transition.
With 4.0 technology, the biorefinery will be supplied by different feedstocks and will have full traceability, safety in pollutant reductions, compliance throughout the chain, and lower water and energy consumption.
and safer transportation
The biofuels produced at the biorefinery will be transported to the Madre de Deus Terminal through pipelines, utilizing a pipeline network that is already in the region. This system ensures safer, more continuous, and more efficient transport.
on communities
We conducted detailed Social and Environmental Impact Assessment studies and adopted tangible measures to minimize and control the effects on the regions surrounding on the regions near the biorefinery and pipelines.
Everything is designed to protect the community, the environment, and the workers.
Check below the main points observed for the implementation phase and what we are doing in each case.
Possible impacts
Increase in exposed soil, without vegetation, with a risk of landslides due to rain and wind
Our actions
- Reduce the time the soil remains uncovered during construction;
- Install barriers to hold the soil and materials in place during rain or strong winds;
- Conduct continuous environmental monitoring during the earthmoving phases.
Possible impacts
Change in river water quality
Our actions
- Install a system to treat sewage on-site before sending it to the main treatment plant;
- Reuse the water used for cleaning trucks to keep the roads wet;
- Create systems that separate oil from water, preventing pollution.
Possible impacts
Increase in dust and gas emissions that may affect air quality
Our actions
- Water the roads to reduce dust and monitor emissions from diesel vehicles to ensure compliance with legal limits.
Possible impacts
Change in soil and/or water quality due to incorrect waste disposal
Our actions
- Follow the best methods for properly handling and disposing of waste.
Possible impacts
Change in the path or quantity of water flowing to the river

- Maintain constant attention and improve communication with the Municipal Health Department to properly apply preventive measures for workers;
- Guide the population and workers on disease prevention and environmental care.
Possible impacts
Increase in hunting activities
Our actions
- Inform and raise awareness among employees and the nearby community about the prohibition of hunting.
Possible impacts
Increase in risk of animals being run over on roads
Our actions
- Maintain and install signage on access roads to the enterprise;
- Train drivers to prevent animal collisions and instruct them on the appropriate procedures when encountering injured or dead animals on the road, in accordance with the wildlife management and rescue plan.
Possible impacts
Noise causing discomfort to residents of the region
Our actions
- Perform maintenance and adjustment of machine, truck, and vehicle engines;
- Carry out activities mainly during daytime hours;

Possible impacts
Economic growth, with increased money circulation and new opportunities
Our actions
- Prioritize, whenever possible, the hiring of companies, service providers, and businesses from the local region.
Possible impacts
Job creation during construction and temporary activities, both directly through project-related work and indirectly through service provision
Our actions
- Conduct campaigns to publicize job openings for the project, giving priority, whenever possible, to hiring individuals from the local community.
Possible impacts
More taxes collected for the municipality and state
Our actions
- Prioritize, whenever possible, the hiring of companies, service providers, and businesses from São Francisco do Conde and its surrounding region;
- Request that service provider companies present statements certifying that they have no outstanding debts with the municipal, state, or federal authorities.
Possible impacts
Increased risk of accidents involving workers or vehicles
Our actions
- Conduct safety talks and ongoing training for workers involved in the construction on how to prevent accidents.
Possible impacts
Change in terrain and environmental appearance
Our actions
- Take care of landscaping by planting trees and using native plants to make buildings and structures more attractive and in harmony with the local landscape.
Possible impacts
Social changes that may generate local tensions or conflicts
Our actions
- Conduct awareness actions with workers to raise alertness about risks and prevent issues such as child prostitution, drug use, and sexually transmitted diseases.
Possible impacts
Increased traffic and congestion in the area
Our actions
- Implement actions to prevent, whenever possible, buses and trucks from arriving simultaneously during peak hours of worker entry and exit.
Possible impacts
Change in tourism activity
Our actions
- Conduct awareness activities with workers to provide guidance on the environmental preservation of tourist areas.
Possible impacts
Issues or overload in streets, energy, sanitation, and other city services
Our actions
- Establish an on-site health care unit for construction workers to reduce the need for visits to regional hospitals;
- Plan, in coordination with public authorities, improvements to address the increased demand for health services.
Possible impacts
Increase in vehicle traffic in the region, potentially affecting the daily routine of quilombola communities residing within the biorefinery’s area of influence
Our actions
- Take measures to reduce problems caused by the increase in vehicle traffic on highway BA-523 during construction.
Possible impacts
Affect fishing activities in the project’s area of influence due to the risk of river contamination
